Will, and his magic, are of the Light. Humans in his universe have a balance between Light and Dark, because they have the ability to choose. Its implied that he doesn't have that choice. He is of the Light, and because of that he must serve it. At one point a character with Seeing abilities sees him as a column of Light.
Will can sense the presence of Light and Dark magic of his world, but the definitions of Light and Dark between KH and DIR may be too different for this.
Other: Will is described as being of magic or being a creature of magic. I generally take this to mean that he doesn't just use magic, but that he is made of magic in some way.
